Pietra Leccese

Formed 17 million years ago, “Pietra Leccese” wrote the Baroque history of Salento, revealing past traces inside, from extinct species fossils to shark teeth or crocodile.

For its neutral color, it is harmoniously suitable to any surroundings. For its compactness and resistance, it is a precious material.

Sinuous lines and interlaced design stir up its stateliness. Today it is also used for small atmospheres, where you can taste the Baroque and reliving the antiquity in modern times.

A curiousness about “leccisu”, dialectal word of Pietra Leccese, it is the device used to make it impermeable. Today we use water-repellent solutions. In the past they used milk that occluded the porosities of the stone, preserving it from atmospheric agents.
